Maybe, maybe not. He's incredibly uneven, especially of late, so reading stories from one work probably isn't enough to form an opinion. I've read quite a bit of his work, and he can (and has) put out a very good work and a bigtime yawner back-to-back. IMHO, the high point of his work is the (unfinished -- will ya please just FINISH it, PLEASE) Christopher Snow trilogy, of which "Fear Nothing" and "Seize the Night" have been released. Some others I've liked are "Servants of Twilight", "Dark Rivers of the Heart", and the more recent Odd Thomas books.
