Hi, Robert -

I agree that Koontz can be very uneven. But I really did NOT like FEAR
NOTHING. The beginning, especially, irritated me rather than serving to
build suspense. I never read the second one because of that. Loved ODD
THOMAS, liked the sequel. Loved STRANGERS. DARK RIVERS... was good. I recall
disliking DARKFALL. WHISPERS was good as was LIGHTNING. Generally, I've
liked most of the ones that I've read.

Maybe, maybe not. He's incredibly uneven, especially of late, so reading
stories from one work probably isn't enough to form an opinion. I've read
quite a bit of his work, and he can (and has) put out a very good work and a
bigtime yawner back-to-back. IMHO, the high point of his work is the
(unfinished -- will ya please just FINISH it, PLEASE) Christopher Snow
trilogy, of which "Fear Nothing" and "Seize the Night" have been released.
Some others I've liked are "Servants of Twilight", "Dark Rivers of the
Heart", and the more recent Odd Thomas books.
