[grimoire] My take on Dean Koontz...

..*drum roll please...*

After my first sample of Koontz (finally), I'm kinda on the fence.

I read his three stories from the Night Visions 4 anthology.  Some people 
have said that he's very formulamatic.  I'd agree.  All three stories 
practically beat you over your head with the story's theme.  All three had a 
section approx. 3/4 of a page long that basically explained the theme of the 
story.  In addition to that, all three themes were similar.  The theme of 
two of them would be something like, "the power of love," and the theme for 
the other would have been something like, "triumph of the human spirit."

Aside from that, I DID find the stories engaging, and the characters very 
well fleshed out.

The stories that I'm referring to (in case you're familiar with them) are 
Hardshell, Miss Attila the Hun, and ....can't remember the name of the other
