[grimoire] THIS RAGE OF ECHOES**Simon Clark

Is it just me, or has Simon Clark's books gone downhill since STRANGER?  I think that was the last one by him that I truly liked.  It seems as if he wrote a really bad debut book (Darker), then followed it up with a plethora of gems:  Blood Crazy/Vampyrrhic/Darkness Demands/Stranger/Nailed by the Heart.  
 
After these books came:  In This Skin (bad), The Tower (bad), Death's Dominion (pretty good), then The Rage of Echoes. 
 
The thing is, I can't single out why I don't like his newer books.  They just don't engage me.
