[grimoire] Halloween Reads (WITHER)

Hi, Robert -

Since WITHER'S RAIN came out 4 years after WITHER, I wrote in enough detail
so that you don't need to read (re-read) WITHER to know what's going on...of
course, you can always read WITHER if you still have it or can find it, just
for the thrills & chills. :-)

Yes, Matthew's Miles is on SAT, OCT 20 in south New Jersey. Twenty minutes
from Philadelphia, PA. Coming up fast.

I'm sorry to hear you've had to experience brain cancer in your family.
Matthew is doing better this year, since his radiation therapy. He was in a
wheelchair in school all of last year. This year, since the first day of
school, he's walked in under his own power.

-Jack

Man, I haven't read Wither in ages -- I really need to reread so that I can
read the following books in the series. Thanks for the reminder, Jack!

And I'll toot your horn a bit more here -- as coincidence would have it,
just this morning I happened to think about Matthew's Miles and wondered
when it was this year, so I went out to the website and noticed that it
nearly got by me this year! Things have been a little insane at work for a
long time, and I'm lucky I remember anything with 2 kids at home :-).

Brain cancer has taken a toll on my family, and I bet the same is true of
many here. Even if not, anyone who is a parent or even just loves kids can
surely recognize the tragedy when something like that happens to a child.
If you're not close enough to be there and walk, as I sadly am not, PLEASE
consider supporting this outstanding cause with a donation:
http://matthewsmiles.org/index.htm.

Sorry if this steps over the line of the group rules, Carla, but I feel very
strongly about this, and I promise I won't do it again until next year :-).

Hey, Robert -

Tooting my own horn a bit, but for anyone who hasn't read my Bram Stoker
Award-Winning first novel -- WITHER -- it is centered around Halloween. The
last third of the book takes place on Halloween. :-)
