Just finished this one.  It wasn't what I expected.  I'd call it an "extreme horror" novel.  Devereaux's description of gore in it seems sorta Poppy Z. Brite-ish.  Very poetic, which sorta turned me off from the book.  I prefer my violence more in the Jack Ketchum way:  brutal and to the point.
 
With that being said, the book wasn't bad by any means, although I still say Devereaux's best book has got to be SANTA STEPS OUT.  Probably my favorite comedy/horror book ever.
