LOVED it.  Amongst Benchley's best.  I'd say just one small notch below JAWS.  I also liked "the girl of the sea of cortez."

 

You guys may have seen the tv miniseries in the 90's of this one.  it's about a giant squid.  i have the movie in my netflix queue, so I'll be watching it soon.  

 

Only negative I have is that I found the book ended very abruptly.  I've found the same thing about other Benchley novels:  As soon as the conflict with the monster is over, the book ends right away.
