This was book 4 of Alten's MEG (Megaladon) series.  

 

Great book.  Very suspenseful.  It was the first Alten book I've read, and I will probably read more eventually.

 

I tend to have a soft spot for giant creature books.  I liked both of the CLICKERS books.  I've also read a few Benchley novels.  Keene's Conqueror Worms was also fun.
