I was finally convinced by friends to read all of the Harry Potter books. I didn't know if a HP discussion would fall under "horror," so I didn't comment on the books. Anyway, I read SHACKLED because I've seen the book in various message boards being commented on as being a very visceral, disturbing book. I DID consider the book to be very good, AND somewhat disturbing. I say "somewhat disturbing" because I think it doesn't even come close to Wrath White or Monica O' Rourke's books. anyway, this was my second Garton experience (don't remember what the first book was, but didn't care for it), and I really liked it Jason ps: Harry Potter: believe the hype!! -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... I thought it was somewhat slow in the middle, but I thought the story was very original. I probably won't go on and read all of the Repairman Jack books (I generally do not like series), but I did think this book was very well written Jason Now reading Bentley Little's The Policy -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... I found both of them to be average, so I left Bentley Little alone. Then...along comes Cemetery Dance's new issue, which is a Bentley Little tribute issue. So I think, "maybe I was wrong about this guy." I know a lot of people like him, so I figured I'd give him another shot. I got three more Little books, all of which were highly recommended in the tribute issue. The books I picked up were: The Policy (obviously), The Town, and Dominion. After finishing The Policy....my verdict stands. I did find the plot interesting, but I find the pages do not turn themselves. Not very much suspense. And some of the situations in the books seem.....cartoonish? Especially in The Mailman, but the same thing applies to The Policy Maybe Little isn't for me. In any case, I'll eventually get to the other two I have on my shelf. Right now, is my long-awaited reading of Laymon's FUNLAND Jason -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
