The book was good, but I think that On the Beach and Swan Song have ruined post-apocalypse books for me forever, because those two were so good. One knock on the book that I have is that the first half of it (pre-apocalypse) was very slow. The book's final act was good though. On another note, I attended WHC 2011 in Austin, and the event totally blew up my TBR pile. I consider myself a very disciplined reader, in that I keep my TBR pile manageable. I bought a bunch of books, got to hang out with a few of my favorite authors: Jeff Strand, Brian Keene, Jack Ketchum, Carlton Mellick, Wrath James White, etc... Was my first time and I loved it!! I had a copy of THE KEEP in my bag, so I had him sign it and we struck up a conversation. I told him that I'm from Lousiana and I lost a lot of books in Hurricane Katrina that I would have loved to get signed at WHC. Before I finished talking to him, he asked for my email address... The day I get back from WHC, I have an email from him saying that he will mail me a box of books from his basement!!! Soo...this is where you come in. I've only read THE KEEP (which I did like), and he's sent me around 20 of his other books. What is everyone's favorite FP Wilson books? And what order should I read them? I know there are a few Repairman Jack books in there. Should those be read in order? any help is appreciated!! Jason -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... I thought it was ok. Not one of my faves from Mellick. I thought the last one I read from him (Warrior Wolf Women of the Wasteland) was slightly better. Broken on the Wheel of Sex is a collection of stories from Ketchum's porn magazine days. No horror stories in here. These were written under the "jerzy Livingston" pseudonym. High quality writing from Ketchum (as usual), but you'd have to be a big Ketchum fan to appreciate this collection. Otherwise, just go out and get the vastly superior "Peaceable Kingdom." Kill Whitey was the best out of these three. Not really a typical Keene book. It's a mob story. The book is really revved up on the action though. It's a real fast read, which I like. Very compulsively readable. Both title AND author are somewhat misleading. It is not a zombie story, nor is it typical Joyce Carol Oates. This is a book I've been looking for in the used book stores for a long time, and I finally found it. Was worth the wait. Serial killer story told through the eyes of the killer. Slightly overhyped for it's "shock factor" though. Or maybe I'm just jaded after reading Wrath James White's books. haha Jason now reading Shifter by Ed Lee/John Pelan -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
